MacFamilyTree:
What Are Product Keys?
… The Kickstart For Your Genealogy Research
In order to seriously use MacFamilyTree for researching your own family history, you surely want to save the information you enter into MacFamilyTree. And you certainly will want to share some of the information and present the results to your friends and family.
We offer everybody a free trial of MacFamilyTree, simply by downloading and installing the program, but to enable »Save«, »Export« and »Print« in the freely downloadable version, the software has to be »registered« with a valid MacFamilyTree product key.
… The Ultimate Proof Of Purchase
Especially when buying software »online«, these product keys are important. Having a unique product key for your purchase of a software program makes it very easy to find a copy of your purchase receipt in our registration database, even in the unlikely event of you not being certain of the person’s name, address, e-mail adress and phone number stated at the time of purchase.
Keep Them Safe!
With your purchase of MacFamilyTree, you have received a valid product key — either inside the MacFamilyTree retail box or in the confirmation e-mail from our online store.
For safekeeping the best way is to make a hardcopy of the e-mail with the product key: just print it out on plain paper. Then store the printout in a file or folder in a dark and dry place — just like you’d do with your insurance policies and bank documents.
What Do Product Keys Look Like?
Product keys, also called »Serial Numbers«, are unique strings of alphanumeric characters. E.g., for MacFamilyTree 5, the product keys look like in this picture:
Depending on the version of MacFamilyTree you have purchased, product keys vary in form and length. To help you find and identify your product key, so that you can safely store and later retrieve it, please read the related articles below:
