Be more efficient.
iFinance offers a comprehensive and efficient approach to easily manage your personal finances.
iFinance 3 conveniently manages your entire cash flow over multiple accounts. The completely redesigned graphic user interface (GUI) helps you keeping an eye on all relevant information — at all times. Quick access to your data and diagrams, as well as to budgets and stocks have been focal points during development of iFinance's new version. Password protection of your data is possible, of course.
Transactions can automaticaly be assigned to single categories and be retrieved from the powerful database in an instant. Obviously, transfers from one account to the other and split transactions are of course also supported.

In combination with online banking tools, iFinance 3 offers CSV import and export to comfortably retrieve transaction data for bank accounts, passbooks and credit cards from most banks. You can also import MT940 or files created with Quicken.
You may use iFinance's powerful auto-management for recurring transactions to make handling of scheduled and repeatedly occurring transactions easier than ever: e.g. paychecks or your rent or insurance payments. Recurring transactions can be edited at any time and you may also handle them as split transactions.
Compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
iFinance 3 has been tested successfully with Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard"
Languages
Are you looking for an English, German, Portuguese, Spanish or Dutch version of iFinance? You'll be glad to hear: iFinance supports them all. Just download iFinance and the application will automatically choose the right language.
Put your money in perspective
A multitude of different diagrams visualizes how your money is spent and how your income evolves over time. All diagrams are completely customizable to your liking.

You may either rely on our various predefined templates or rather create your own diagram with just a few clicks. All diagrams are stored in your database for reference. With only a few clicks you can configure which information is displayed and how… Our vivid diagrams are an intuitive and efficient view on all those potentially uninspiring numbers.
But, obviously, we didn't stop here: iFinance 3 has different view modes which you may also print or save as PDF documents. Apart from interactive 3D diagrams, we offer a special print-optimized view which you can still customize extensively.

Far-Sighted
Our new 'Budget' feature allows you to comfortably plan your resources. Want to go on a world cruise? Need to refurbish your home? Plan ahead what you can spend on craftsmen, material, furniture and other expenses. And never lose track of what your day-to-day spendings amount to over the course of any customizable period: iFinance graphically displays every budget's process for the selected period and issues a warning before you exceed any limit.
For every budget, all relevant bookings are displayed, together with the budget's progress for the current period. Budget warnings are also visible in the overview list in the sidebar. You can schedule warning messages independently for every budget.
 Budget
Make your own, individual rules for different budgets. And, you can also use budgets to define income and profit targets as well as to set maximum limits for losses.
Manage various currencies within the same database
You can manage multiple accounts with different currencies within one database. Currency exchange rates can be updated automatically over the Internet.
This allows you to handle accounts and credit cards from banks abroad in their native currencies. You may also track your investment in foreign currencies, historically, over time.
 Tracking your stocks
iFinance 3 supports export and print of your diagrams as well as saving them as PDF documents.
iFinance 3 builds on top of 'Core Data', Apple's powerful database technology for smooth and efficient access to your valuable data.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the system requirements for iFinance 3?
iFinance requires at least a PPC or Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard"), as well as a display offering 1024x768 resolution. Starting with version 3.0.9, iFinance is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard").
- How do I install iFinance 3?
After downloading the iFinance image file, please open it and drag the application contained in the image to your Applications folder. Close the installer image and launch iFinance from the Applications folder (not from the installer image).
- Which languages are supported?
English, German, Spanish, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese
- How do I change languages if the default doesn't suit me?
Mac OS X 10.5 users:
Please highlight iFinance in the Finder and select "Get Info" from the File menu. A window will open detailing every available language version. Simply de-activate all languages except the one you want iFinance to launch with. Changes take effect when you launch iFinance the next time.
Mac OS X 10.6 users:
Please open System Preferences and select the "Language & Text" option. There, you can define in which order languages are to be applied - the first entry sets your system language, if your system language is not available for an application, the next available language in that list will be applied in the order specified by you.
CAUTION: These settings are system-wide, including the Finder.
In case your preferred language doesn't appear in that list, simply click "Edit List ..." and select your language.
After applying changes, iFinance has to be quit and re-launched.
- I lost my registration key. What should I do?
Please send us an e-mail detailing your name and the e-mail address you used to buy iFinance to: ifinance@synium.de
- Where is the iFinance database located?
You'll find your database file in the "~/Library/Application Support/iFinance3/" folder ("~" represents your User Folder).
- Why does the CSV-Import not work as advertised?
The most common problems are:
- Data can only be imported after columns for date and amount are defined.
- The date can not be interpreted
Banks often use different date formatting, 15.02.2009, 02/15/2009 or 02-15-2009, for example. IFinance attempts to automatically recognize the correct format, however, this is not always successful.
This is why iFinance allows you to manually set a specific format. A format always consists of day, month and year.
Use "d" for day, "M" for month and "y" for year.
NOTE: please mind the capital "M" and lower-case "d" and "y".
The above examples would look like this: d.M.y (day.month.year), M/d/y (month/day/year) and M-d-y (month-day-year).
If day and month are always two-digit numbers (i.e. "09" for September), optionally use "dd" and "MM". Likewise, if years are always four-digit numbers, use "yyyy".
Entries that can not be interpreted are highlighted red and aren't imported.
- The amount can not be interpreted
Similar to the date formats, the number formats can be defined. In case you encounter numerous problems, check the settings for "Number format".
- The CSV-encoding is incompatible.
Usually, banks export CSV files in the ASCII format. Our ASCII or UTF-8 import modules are able to open such files. In case your files are encoded differently, please change the settings in the "Encoding" preferences.
- Your bank utilizes a format currently unsupported by iFinance.
Please send us such a file, manually change the values for data security reasons and send it to us: ifinance@synium.de. We'll try and add compatibility as soon as possible.
- Is there a way to synchronize my data with the iPhone/iPod touch?
Starting with version 3.1, iFinance will get a companion application for the iPhone/iPod touch.
This will allow you to easily track your cash movements on the go and sync it with iFinance 3 on your Mac back at home.
- Uh, I have an idea, a request, I found a bug. Whom do I contact?
Please drop us a mail at:
ifinance@synium.de
- I forgot my password for my iFinance database, how do I access my data?
In case you just password-protected your file, we will likely be able to restore your data. Please understand that we will never hand out the means necessary to restore the data, as this would compromise security for all our users.
In case you applied encryption and password protection, you better remember that password, because there is absolutely no way we could restore that data. After all, that's what you intended by encrypting it in the first place.
